Kingsholme

Kingsholme was built in 1855- 1859 by James King, the man the town of Kingsville, Ontario was named after. King family members lived here well into the 1960's. Part of the home is now operating as the Kingswood Guest Apartment. -2012

I dug into the shoebox and came out with 2 colour slides and a b&w. The fall scene is somewhere in New York state and the glacier is in Alberta Canada, the cigarette butts were in my ashtray - late 1970's.

While out for a walk yesterday I happened into a fellow who was collecting returnables. I could hear the bottles and cans rattling in the plastic bag strung over the handlebar as he rode past. Catching up with him while he was stopped for a pickup, I paused to take a picture of the house nearby. He saw me and asked if I had been out to the 2nd concession to see that big bird (Great Grey Owl) that has ventured further south than usual and is causing a stir with birders. I said I wasn't exactly sure where the owl was. "There were a lot of cars parked at that church by the McCain side road, do you know the one I mean?" I said that I did. "The next day they were parked along the 2nd concession east of the McCain." Plenty of field mice to hunt in the fields" I said "and rabbits" he added. He straddled his bike over to the sidewalk and put his foot on the pedal, "have to get moving." I nodded and watched him ride toward The Beer Store, to cash in his returns before it closed.
